There is a tank for the e-liquid, the atomizer, and, of course, the battery or power source. Yet, this very simple design suffered from some basic problems, one of which was the leaking of liquid from the tank to the actual atomizer. So what is the atomizer? It is the device that actually warms the liquid, thus creating the vapor and providing the unique flavor common to e-cigs.
The question is, what types of atomizers are there for those just starting out vaping? How can you choose one that will work for you?
Let’s Talk Atomizers: Getting Warmed Up
As with any part of an e-cig, there are a number of atomizers in the market. One such atomizer is the cartomizer, which has a built in atomizer within the e-liquid cartridge. These cartomizers come in a top-coil, dual-coil, horizontal, bottom-coil and a vertical coil. However, if you choose a cartomizer or the stand-alone atomizer, both will include a heating element (made by a tiny gauge wire) that vaporizes the e-liquid held in the tank.
The atomizer is essentially a wire connected to both a power supply and a circuit board. When the circuit board is activated, it sends power into two different places — the heating element (the tiny wire) and the micro-pump that is located within the atomizer. The pump’s job is to get the e-liquid to the area of the heating element. E-liquid passing the heating element is turned into vapor.
This process will continue while the user is sucking on the e-cig or when the user releases the button. While different models can function in a variety of ways, this is one of the most standard set-ups.
If you’re a regular vaper, you know how much money you can save by ditching the cigs. Thankfully vaping equipment isn’t as heavily taxed by the government. Besides the initial investment in the electronic cigarette device, you’ll have practically no costs. A single tank of e-juice is equivalent to an entire pack of cigarettes, but the e-juice costs pennies. If you’re a chain-smoker, you can save thousands of dollars every year by switching to vaping.
However, you may not realize that you can save lots of cash by making your own coils too.
Atomizers can be expensive. While it might take a bit of research and practice to learn how to build your own coils, you’ll only have to pay for the wire, and the wire you pick up at your local hardware store might even last you a year or longer.
Whether you make your own coils or not though, if you follow these three simple tips, you can make your coils last longer than ever before.
A good battery can make all the difference in the world, but that won’t help you a bit if you don’t know what you’re looking for or what kind of characteristics top 5 18650 batteries have.
Well, that’s where we come in. We’ve scoured pages of batteries searching for the ones that are not only long-lasting and high-draining, but also durable and reliable. Unfortunately,
there are too many vape shops today that exaggerate the capabilities of their batteries and fail to put them through proper testing. If voltage and amperage seem a bit too good to be true,
then chances are they probably are.
Batteries are really more complicated than it might seem at first, but don’t worry. We’re going to lead you through everything you need to know about batteries from start to finish,
and then we’ll show you what we think are the top 5 18650 batteries.
Glass-You wouldn’t drink Chianti in a plastic Solo cup, so why would you drink premium e-liquid from a cheap, disposable drip tip. If you’re a flavor purist, then you’ll want to settle for nothing less than the best. These gorgeous designs are carefully crafted by the finest artisans, and, while they’ll cost you a pretty penny, you’ll be the envy of all your friends with a one-of-a-kind blown design.
Wood-Wood doesn’t conduct heat well, so you won’t have to worry about burning your lips even when you turn up the temperature. Wood can look refined, elegant, and sophisticated, but only if it has a decent finish. Without a good finish, a wooden drip tip is likely to fade and splinter.
As vaping continues to grow in popularity, more and more options for vaping devices are becoming available. Two popular options are pod systems and disposables. But which one should you choose? In this article, we’ll compare and contrast the two options to help you make an informed decision.
What are Pod Systems?
Pod systems, also known as pod mods, are vaping devices that use a pod or cartridge to hold the e-liquid. The pod usually snaps into the device, and the coil and wick are contained within the pod. Pod systems are typically small and compact, making them easy to carry around.
In 2022, it was estimated that 250,000 Kiwis vape and one-in-five teens used an e-cigarette daily.
These ingredients usually include flavourings, nicotine and other additives.
Outside of Malaysia, it is also common to add marijuana extracts such as THC and CBD.
Johns Hopkins University (JHU) researchers also found caffeine in the vape juice concoction they tested, which they suspect could be giving an undisclosed “extra kick” and wondered if the added addictive stimulant was an intentional ingredient.
Educators argue vaping in schools is harmful to students. Many teachers want the New Zealand Government to follow Australia's lead and tighten vaping rules, over concerns today's youth are at risk of becoming tomorrow's smokers.
There are currently no plans to follow Australia's crackdown on vaping, which will ban the import of non-prescription vaping products and all single-use vapes, restrict flavours and colours and further limit nicotine concentration and volumes.
There has been a 50 per cent rise in 11 to 17-year-olds experimenting with vaping in the last year, despite age restrictions, a new study has revealed.
The data will be used to support calls for the Government to take measures to address children’s access to vapes.
But, what is the vaping age limit and what are the health impacts of vapes? Here is what we know.
A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report found that in 2021, 4.5 percent of American adults — more than 10 million people — said they use an electronic tobacco product. And a sizable portion of the vapers is young adults and children: More than 2.5 million middle school and high school students admitted to using an e-cigarette within the past month in a 2022 study from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the CDC.
A ban on the sale of flavoured e-cigarettes has been announced by US President Donald Trump, after a number of vaping-related deaths.
So, how much is being spent on e-cigarettes, and how safe are they?
Like tobacco smoke, this aerosol contains nicotine, a highly addictive chemical compound. It’s what keeps you reaching for your cigarettes or your vape. If you are trying to quit smoking, therefore, vaping won’t help.
“Vaping sort of resembles what happens in the bloodstream with smoking, where you have a high nicotine level after smoking, followed by a drop,” says Dr. Horovitz.
The disposable vape boom has dominated the vaping industry for the past 5 years. Their popularity can be attributed to a number of factors, top of the list is their sheer convenience; to be able to buy a vape and use it straight out the box with no prior experience and no upkeep is a big plus for any smoker looking to make the switch who is unfamiliar with the world of vaping.
DTL or sub-ohm vaping uses thicker high VG e-liquid, which is available in 10ml bottles of premixed nicotine, or the more popular and economical 50ml & 100ml shortfills, that start out with 0mg of nicotine and leave room for an additional nic shot.
Here you are inhaling deep lungfuls of vapour through a kit that pumps out double or even triple the amount of power to that of an MTL kit.
Disposable vapes have drawn consumer attention to how many puffs they can get per device, with 600 puffs being the magic number. You may be curious to know how this translates to e-liquid used in refillable vape kits. It’s not an exact science as there are a number of variables involved, including the frequency and duration of your inhale. Even disposable vape manufacturers who use machine testing, round off to the nearest hundred while inserting the word ‘approximately’ somewhere in the small print.

You might be tempted to turn to electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes, vape pens, and other nondisposable and disposable vaping devices) as a way to ease the transition from traditional cigarettes to not smoking at all. But is smoking e-cigarettes (also called vaping) better for you than using tobacco products? Can e-cigarettes help you to stop smoking once and for all? Michael Blaha, M.D., M.P.H., director of clinical research at the Johns Hopkins Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Heart Disease, shares health information about vaping.
The nicotine levels in e-juice vary dramatically, from nicotine-free e-juice to forms comprised of potent nicotine salts that may contain up to 50 milligrams per liter or more. More commonly, vapers who are habituated to smoking will use e-juice in the range of 3 to 15 milligrams per milliliter. Heavy smokers may want to go as high as 24-milligram-per-milliliter e-juice.
